On Spring
Even though it’s progressively getting colder here in Wisconsin, it feels like spring is right around the corner. Plants are beginning to wake, growing at a pace tantamount to the lengthening of daylight. This seasonal precipice means bringing some color into the house, in anticipation of longer, warmer days ahead. When I have light, bright and beautiful things to look at, I am reminded of that winter is on a downswing, and spring is near. Spring is my favorite season. It signifies new beginnings; plants frozen under layers and layers of snow awaken, trees laid bare begin to bud. Isn’t it amazing?
I have these little milk jugs that I keep as countertop decorations in my home’s bathrooms. As the seasons change, so does the foliage. Want to bring a similar look to your home? Keep reading.
First, pick out your faux floral bundles. Michael’s Art Store has lots of options, and always has sales going on. I will link the floral bundles I chose at the end of the article. When you are making your selections, keep three things in mind: color, height and texture. I tried to choose three bundles that varied in these three things. Choose one tall bundle, I chose a bushel of yellow billy balls. Then, grab something more floral and full. I chose a mixed peony bundle. Then, chose something that will compliment the two, and fill out your vessel the appropriate amount. My jug is from IKEA, but Michael’s has a very similar one - and for a very good price. All of this, for under $25.00.
