Creativity. It’s in my blood. I like to say that I’m a curious and creative soul, whose goal it has always been to know how to do everything. I have toyed around with sewing in the past, but haven’t ever gotten far with it, as my mind and hands have taken me other places. Well, this past week, I got serious about it an put my skills to the test. I stumbled upon a pattern by All Well Workshop for a ‘cardigan coat’ after seeing them all over Instagram. I was obsessed. In true spirit of not wanting to pay upwards of $500.00 on a reclaimed quilt jacket, I set out to make myself one. This pattern from All Well is super easy to follow, and is so great for beginner sewers. The instructions break things down with illustrations, the pattern is easy to cut out, and infinitely customizable with the 50+ page ‘Hacking Guide’.

I followed the pattern, but ended up wanting more of a cuff type look for my ‘cardigan coat’ (which ended up just looking more like a shirt due to my fabric choice). I did a little YouTube-ing of tutorials on how to make cuffs, and was able to quickly make that adjustment. I love it! It looks so clean and looks really tailored despite being super easy to accomplish as a novice sewer.

Here is the finished result! I think it looks great and I learned tons about sewing that I will surely take into my next projects. One things for sure… I will be more mindful of my choice in thread color next time… white on green fabric isn’t exactly the cleanest look. Lesson learned!
